A 4-year-old Wakefield church is migrating to Suffolk at the end of this month to bring its community ministries to the area.
Triumph in Victory Christian Church will hold its first service in Suffolk on Oct. 31 beginning at 8:30 a.m. at 3262 Jackson Road. Ernest B. Perry, the pastor, said the church has been so blessed in its growth that it is migrating to help others.
“The Lord has been blessing us,” he said. “We have been growing tremendously.”
The church started just with Perry’s family and met at a building in Wakefield. It now has grown to more than 200 members.
The church brings with it a youth ministry, hospitality ministry, mission ministry and separate outreaches for single men, single women and married people.
The church also aims to help folks in the community who are struggling in a number of different areas.
“We want to help people in the city where we are inhabiting,” Perry said. “We’re not here to shed light on the church but to shed light on the problems and get the problems fixed.”
The church has six licensed schoolteachers who run a program to teach children academics as well as Biblical principles.
“We’re making a conscious effort to look at social issues that plague the community,” Perry said. “We want to let the buck stop here.”
