A rash of six burglaries within a one-mile stretch of Holland Road during the past two weeks has Suffolk police concerned enough to put out a warning to area business owners and to ask for help from the public.

According to police, since Oct. 7, Dashiell’s Half-Round Showroom and LaBella Pizzeria, located respectively in the 1400 and 1500 blocks of Holland Road, have both been victims of two nighttime burglaries each. Single burglaries have taken place at Race World Collectibles in the 1500 block of Holland Road and Lynda’s Hairstyles, located in the 100 block of Grove Avenue.

A large number of firearms were stolen from Dashiell’s, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has become involved with the investigation, offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved.

The other businesses that were victimized have lost small amounts of money in the burglaries, according to Suffolk spokesperson Debbie George.

George said in a press release on Thursday that police have stepped up their patrols in the affected area and are asking folks there to be alert and report any suspicious people, vehicles or activities in the area.
