The Apprentice School golf team put together its second straight round of 306 on Monday to finish the Tom Kinder Memorial hosted by Bridgewater College at a 612 total for a ninth place finish out of 18 teams.
The 612 total broke the school two-round event record that was at 616 at this same tournament in 2005. At that event, the Builders went 302-314 for its total.
Sophomore Kyle Mutter joined the record-setting day with his share of a fourth place finish after carding a one-under two-day total of 143. His 72 on Monday helped him break the previous two-day record low of 144 shared by Steven Ness (2006-‘07), assistant coach BJ Maben (2007-‘08) and current teammate Ben Hunter of Suffolk, who had done it as a freshman at the USCAA Nationals in 2010.
Hunter matched his career two-day low round total with a 73 on Monday for a 144 total to finish alone in eighth place to continue his solid season.
