David Wilson Sr., 82, of 6593 Everets Road, Suffolk, Va., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at Sentara Obici Hospital. David was born June 10, 1930, to John Wesley and Annie (Davis) in Suffolk, the 11th of 17 children.

Throughout his life, David was a pioneering bricklayer, and entrepreneur of several businesses, and a farmer who grew and sold his own crops. He served as a deacon at both Little Bethel Baptist Church and Diamond Grove Baptist Church, and he loved to sing in the choir.

David is survived by his wife, Mary; nine children, Iris, Sylvia, David Jr., Michael, Vincent, Ronnie, Lynette, Marilyn, Renee; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

David’s homegoing celebration will be Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at noon at Little Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Nansemond Suffolk Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, Sept. 16, from noon to 8 p.m. at Crocker Funeral Home. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
