Galaxy ends with winning mark

The Galaxy 12-and-under softball squad, a travel club based in Chuckatuck, concluded its action in the National Softball Association (NSA) Fast Pitch Class A World Series in Charlotte, N.C. Thursday.
After starting out in the group play round Monday, the Galaxy won one game in the championship bracket on Tuesday before a loss took them out of the top bracket.
In the consolation bracket, the Galaxy went 2-0 Wednesday. The Galaxy defeated the Lady Aces (Va.) 1-0 and the Mystics Red (N.J.) 9-2 late Wednesday night.
Back in action Thursday morning, the Galaxy fell 5-0 to the Indy Diamond Chix to finish with a 4-3 record in the tournament.
The tournament is the NSA championship for fast-pitch softball teams in the eastern half of the U.S. and Canada. Forty-three teams played in the 12-and-under tourney.
