Ruth Christine Ruffin, 92, of 2912 Seminary Ave., Richmond, Va., died Friday, Oct. 8, 2010 in her residence. She was a native of Southampton County, Va., and the daughter of the late Lee Turner and Hellen Blunt Turner. She was also predeceased by her husband, Ocie Lee Ruffin Jr.

She was a member of Antioch United Church of Christ where she was a Sunday school teacher, member of the Senior Choir, a missionary and deaconess.

She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Ruth R. Banks (James), of Fredericksburg, Va.,, Rosiland Ruffin, of Richmond, Va., Barbara R. McDonald (Phillip), of Dover, Del.; three sons, Ocie L. Ruffin III (Lucille), of Suffolk, Wayne L. Ruffin (Glenis), of Decatur, Ga. and Sylvester T. Ruffin (Jessie), of Windsor Mill, Md. Also treasuring her life are several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including special friends, Mrs. Mildred King, Mrs. Elizabeth Bernard, and our family’s angel, Mrs. Robin Waddy, her devoted healthcare giver for three years.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010 in Antioch United Church of Christ officiated by the Rev. Jarvis Jones. Interment will be in Chapel Grove United Church of Christ Cemetery in Windsor, Va. A wake will be held at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. before the funeral. The family will assemble Saturday at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. for the procession to the church. Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. is handling the arrangements.
