Turner earns promotion

Mickey A. Turner, son of Wayne and Sandra Turner of Suffolk, was promoted to lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army in a ceremony conducted Aug. 7 in Williamsburg.
Col. M.C. Stephen Cherry, chief of staff, Combined Arms Suport Command, administered the oath of office during a private gathering at the Turners’ Williamsburg home.
Lt. Col. Turner is the officer education system division chief for the Army’s Training and Doctrine Command, working out of the headquarters at Fort Eustis, Va.
A 1985 graduate of Suffolk Christian Schools, Lt. Col. Turner received his bachelor’s degree in communications in 1988 and received his Master of Science in management degree in 2009 from Liberty University.
He is married to the former Amy Mitchell, and their two children currently attend Liberty University.
