Another soggy afternoon, during which tantalizing peeks of sunshine were quickly superseded by heavy downpours, forced Langley Speedway officials to throw in the towel on the track’s program on Saturday.
It was Langley’s fourth washout since July 14.
Track officials are hoping for a more favorable forecast as action resumes at Langley Speedway on Sept. 1, when the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour hits town for a Labor Day weekend 150-lapper, presented by Newport News Shipbuilding and BayPort Credit Union.
In addition to the ground-pounding Southern Mods, next week’s lineup includes Langley’s KeesVacations.com Modifieds, Pepsi Grand Stocks, Heritage Motor Co. Super Streets, SavitaPets.com UCARs and Rhonnda Claiborne, Realtor HRKC Pro Winged Champ Karts.
A longtime member of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, Langley Speedway is a .395-mile, slightly banked oval. The track is located at 11 Dale Lemonds Drive, off North Armistead Avenue, in Hampton.
