What if there were a way to actually help America out of its current economic crisis? What if one of the candidates running for president actually had a plan that would be able to put Americans back to work? Would that be of interest to you? Would you like to see America prosper again? Wouldn’t you like to sleep at night knowing that you still have a job to go to in the morning?

If you answered “yes” to any of those questions, than I have a simple plan for you. We need to create a “marriage” between our country and the companies that do business here. Our elected officials as a whole have allowed jobs and services to escape from our borders, and it is high time for us to bring them back.

As many folks know, a marriage is a commitment made between equal partners. If our government would apply the same principle to the companies and corporations that do business here, then we would be back on the path of being a world superpower. Think of how many jobs would be created if we made it law that all companies doing business here must have a minimum of 50 percent of that business based here.

Manufacturing would once again come back to America. You would not need to talk to someone in India about your computer or health records. How wonderful it would be to not have to hunt to buy an American made product. It’s thrilling to think of how many people would be put back to work.

I challenge either candidate to have the guts to stand up to the lobbyists, Congress, the large corporations, and the American people and actually do something to make a positive difference. We need to invest in our own. Don’t give a man a handout, give him a job. And while you’re at it, give his neighbor a job as well.

We need to stop giving China our work and stop borrowing money from them. We have able-bodied American workers ready to go to work. We have manufacturing plants that sit empty here in the states. We need to get back our American pride. We need to demand that our elected officials do not forget us. The middle class will always carry this country on its back, so if the middle class loses its jobs, were will this country be?

I believe in operating by means of common sense. Yet I see so little of it used in Washington. We will always have differences that we cannot agree on, but the one issue that affects everyone is our economy. It is the single most important issue we need to bind together on. We need to unite as Americans and bring our jobs home.

How many of you will unite in a “marriage” with America and tell your elected officials to pass legislation to bring our jobs back? If they could do it for credit reform, they can surely do it for our jobs.
