To the editor:

While Gov. McDonnell and Lt. Gov. Bolling deserve much of the credit for the relative strength of Virginia’s economy, I believe Congressman Randy Forbes should also be commended for his work to reduce the burden on small business while representing our region in Washington.

The national economic environment has an effect on jobs in Virginia, and Rep. Forbes has worked hard to reduce the regulations and spending that hinder our economic recovery. Virginia’s economic health also depends on the strength of our national defense, and Congressman Forbes has been a leader in defending our military budget against destructive cuts.

Attracting the investment that brings jobs requires sound infrastructure and a pro-growth atmosphere. Gov. McDonnell and Lt. Gov. Bolling have pursued this vision in Virginia, and Congressman Forbes has done his part to make sure the federal government stays out of the way.
