IWA overcomes tough Kenston Forest QB

ISLE OF WIGHT—Isle of Wight Academy got past Kenston Forest quarterback Ford Scott’s three touchdown passes, including one for 82 yards, to hold on for a 28-20 conference win Friday night.
Isle of Wight is 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the Virginia Commonwealth Conference. Kenston Forest drops to 0-4 in the conference.
The Chargers had 315 yards total offense compared to the Kavaliers’ 168.
Junior quarterback Ben Epps led for the Chargers with 34 yards on 14 carries and two interceptions, including one touchdown.
Isle of Wight’s Charles Keyt carried the ball 19 times for 133 yards.
Keyt led off scoring with an 11-yard run with 8:48 left in the first quarter. Sam Simmions’ kick was good.
The Chargers’ Greg Chaffer followed with a touchdown on a 7-yard run with 3:47 left in the first quarter.
Kenston Forest came back in the second quarter with Scott throwing a 7-yard touchdown pass. Max Antwerpas’ kick was blocked.
Kenston Forest scored on a 17-yard pass from Scott to Brady Deal with 18 seconds left in the half.
In the third quarter, Epps caught an interception and ran for a 35-yard touchdown. Johnson ran 28 yards for a touchdown with 2:43 left.
For the final score, Scott connected with Deal on an 82-yard pass with 1:27 left in the game.
