Dennis Sweat, 65, of Waldorf, Md. passed away Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010 at Southern Maryland Hospital in Clinton, Md. He was a native of Nansemond County, Va. and the son of the late Matthew L. Sweat and Annie M. Sweat. He was predeceased by one brother, Leondrus Sweat.

He graduated from East Suffolk High School. He retired from the military and later was employed at Fort Belvoir and retired from there also.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Diann Sweat; three daughters, Felicia Fett, of Herndon, Va., Joy Cooper, of Fredericksburg, Va., Terri Judson, of Spotsylvania, Va.; five grandchildren; two sisters, Geraldine White (Ledell) and Patricia Knight (Harvey), both of Suffolk; two brothers, Charles Sweat Sr. (Vanessa) and Lynn Sweat (Lynda), both of Hampton, Va.; sister-in-law, Janet Sweat, of Maryland; aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010 in Thornton Funeral Home, 3439 Livingston Road in Indianhead, Md. Interment will be in Sheltonham Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway in Sheltonham, Md. A wake will be held Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
