ISLE OF WIGHT—Ron Reck, Isle of Wight County’s budget and finance director, resigned from his position on Monday.
Reck, who began working for the county in August 2009, didn’t give a reason for resigning and was out of the office Monday afternoon, according to county spokesman Don Robertson.
Before coming to Isle of Wight, Reck spent 18 months serving as the vice president of business operations at Coker College in Hartsville, S.C. He also spent 30 years with the U.S. Coast Guard before retiring and had spent seven years in higher education serving in senior financial leadership roles.
The budget and finance director position has a budgeted salary of $92,466.
Robertson said other employees in the department would continue the day-to-day activities as the county’s Board of Supervisors decides how to handle the vacancy.
“Other than staff moving forward on all of those day-to-day activities and projects, it’s really going to be a matter of hearing some feedback from the board and staff having to take a look at what the best alternatives are moving forward,” he said.
