Reunited after all those years

What a great event the Girl Scouts hosted at Camp Darden in Franklin on Aug. 4.
To celebrate the organization’s 100th anniversary, the scouts hosted a reunion for all of Camp Darden’s campers from bygone years. Women of all ages shared their memories from their camp days. Some of those ladies live right here in Suffolk and have shaped their city with the experiences they had as Girl Scouts spending the week in Franklin.
Girl Scout camp is a wonderful opportunity. It teaches girls independence, responsibility and social skills. Girls participate in crafts, swimming, hiking, boating, campfires and so much more.
Girls also form lasting and sometimes lifelong friendships with other campers. They may see each other only once a year at camp, but when they do, it doesn’t take long to rekindle those friendships.
So, thanks to the Colonial Coast Girl Scouts for providing camps for our youth and hosting the reunion.
