CHESAPEAKE — Vicki Lamarr Nelson, beloved wife, mother, sister and friend, went home to be with Jesus on Monday morning, Sept. 13, 2010.

Born and raised in Lynchburg on Oct. 19, 1946, Vicki made Tidewater her second home. She worked as a computer operator for General Electric from 1976 to 1986 and for the Virginian-Pilot until her retirement.

After living with and battling cancer for 14 years, she spent her last days with her family and friends by her side.

Vicki is predeceased by her parents, Elmer and Leona Ward. She is survived by her husband John Nelson, Jr.; two sons, Albert Nelson and Michael Nelson; daughter-in-law, Gretchen; and canine companion Maxie.

A service of remembrance will be held at Bethany Baptist Church Thursday, Sept. 16, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Dr. Gene Primm officiating. Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, is handling arrangements.
