Vienna’s Pat Tallent beat Suffolk’s J.P. Leigh 2 and 1 in the quarterfinals of the 63rd VSGA (Virginia State Golf Association) Senior Amateur Championship Thursday morning at the Country Club of Virginia’s James River Course.

With four birdies in the first seven holes, Leigh built a 2-up lead against Tallent. Starting on No. 10, Tallent won four of the next seven holes to turn the score around.

Leigh shot 2-under par on the day. Of the four holes Tallent won on the back nine, Leigh lost three of them with pars.
