Five new public school administrators were appointed at a Suffolk School Board meeting Thursday, district spokeswoman Bethanne Bradshaw stated in an email.

Andre L. Skinner will return to Suffolk after six years with Hampton Public Schools to become principal of Elephant’s Fork Elementary.

After starting as a special education teacher at Lakeland High School, from 1999 to 2001, and a stint as the special needs liaison at The Pruden Center for Industry and Technology, Skinner was assistant principal in Hampton at Jones Magnet Middle and Hunter B. Andrews PreK-8 schools.

Skinner has a bachelor’s degree from Old Dominion University and a master’s and educational specialist degrees from Cambridge College.

Elephant’s Fork is also getting a new assistant principal, Jessica Avery, currently a fourth-grade teacher at Oakland Elementary School who previously worked with Suffolk Public Schools as a special education teacher.

Avery attended St. Leo University for her bachelor’s degree and Regent University for her master’s and educational specialist degrees.

Lori White, who has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia, a master’s degree from Regent University and educational specialist qualifications from University of Virginia, has been named assistant principal at John F. Kennedy Middle.

White is currently data specialist with the special education department, a role she has been in since 2010, and was a special education compliance specialist from 2008 to 2010 and a special education teacher 2003 to 2008.

David C. Reitz, currently a fourth-grade teacher at Northern Shores Elementary after serving as an assistant principal in Virginia Beach Public Schools from 2004 to 2011, has been named assistant principal at Nansemond River High.

Reitz also taught in Virginia Beach from 1993 to 1998 and 2002 to 2004, and with Portsmouth Public Schools from 1999 to 2002.

He attended the University of Pittsburgh for his bachelor’s degree, Old Dominion University for his master’s and Virginia Tech for his doctorate.

At King’s Fork High School, Michael Blount Jr. will start as assistant principal.  Currently a math teacher at Denbigh High School in Newport News, where he has been since 2011, he also taught at Norfolk’s Booker T. Washington High from 2005 to 2011.

Blount has a bachelor’s degree from Hampton University and a master’s degree from Regent University.
