William Riddick

William Elbert Riddick, 64, of 309 N.C. Highway 32, Sunbury, N.C., died Sept. 15, 2008 at 5:45 a.m. at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk, Va.
He was a native of Gates County, N.C., a member of the St. John A.M.E. Zion Church, Sunbury, N.C., and he retired from the shipyard. He also was a veteran.
He was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Riddick. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Yvonne Perry Riddick; mother, Otelia Costen Riddick, of Sunbury, N.C.; daughter, Carolina Riddick-Taylor (Felix), of Sunbury, N.C.; sons, the Rev. Joseph Perry (Paticia), of Sunbury, N.C.; William Riddick Jr. (Vanessa), and Patrick Riddick (Tonya), of Elizabeth City, N.C. He also leaves his sisters, Minnie Brown, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Dorothy Harper, of Jamaica, N.Y.
Funeral services will be held today at 1 p.m. at St. John A.M.E. Zion Church, U.S. Highway 158, Sunbury, N.C., by the Rev. Samuel L. Buck Jr. He will be buried in the church cemetery with military rites. Viewing was held Wednesday night at the funeral home, Stallings Funeral Chapel, Gatesville, N.C.
