Lawrence Bresnahan

Lawrence Alfred Bresnahan (Larry) died peacefully in his home on Nov. 11, 2008, Veteran’s Day. He was the son of the late Marjorie P. and Alfred J. Bresnahan.
He is survived by his best friend and former wife, Cathie Bresnahan, two daughters; Sandra Stankiewicz of Thomaston, Conn., and Sharon Yuan of Westport, Conn., and three grandchildren; Brianna Stankiewicz, Nicole Stankiewicz and Connor Yuan.
Larry was born Sept. 29, 1949 in Waterbury, Connecticut. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served as both enlisted and officer, receiving his commission as 2nd Lt on August 26, 1972. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the State of New York in September of 1977. Larry worked for Babcock and Wilcox as a mechanical systems engineer for several years before moving to Virginia. Larry continued to work in various positions as an engineer, ending with the position of Maintenance Engineer for the Holiday Inn Express in Suffolk. Larry favorite past time was breeding Siamese cats and gardening. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, achieving the distinguished title of Worthy Sir Knight with the all the honors of a Fourth Degree Knight.
Larry will be remembered in a memorial service at St. Mary’s Church, 202 South Broad Street, Suffolk, Va. on Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at 2 p.m. The family wishes to thank Richard K.
