MYMIC LLC, a high-technology products and services company headquartered in Portsmouth and with an office in Suffolk, has begun offering port safety awareness training to help improve general safety of port employees.
According to a company press release, the rates of injuries and accidents among shoreside marine cargo handling employees are more than twice those of construction and general industry.
MYMIC’s Port Safety Awareness Training course is designed to improve retention of training material by up to 70 percent and to change behaviors for all port workers. The course supports OSHA maritime training requirements, standards and guidelines.
Company officials describe the web-based training as “interactive, immersive and engaging, which enhances learning and dramatically improves retention, resulting in fewer safety and security incidents.”
The training program addresses the four primary training areas of safety, security, hazardous materials and environmental awareness in a single application.
