Vann McKaughan

Vann Campbell McKaughan, 75, of Suffolk, passed away on Sept. 21, 2009. A native of Maggie Valley, N.C., he was the son of the late Judson Vann McKaughan and Irene Campbell McKaughan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Korea. Vann was a Doctor of Veterinary Science and a Pathologist for U.S.D.A. and a graduate of the University of Georgia Veterinary School. He was a member of Holy Neck Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Phyllis Weaver McKaughan, of Suffolk; daughters and sons-in-law, Ginny and Wayne McCoy, of Virginia Beach, and Kelly P. and Tim Harcum, of Franklin, Va.; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas W. and Dawn Powers, of Severn, N.C.; three grandchildren, Emily Asbell (Chris), Matthew Harcum and C.J. Harcum; two great-grandchildren, Ashton and Drew Asbell; and brother, David A. McKaughan, of Salem, Ore.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, with the Rev. Brent Hobbs officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Neck Cemetery. Friends may join the family other times at the residence.
