Shirlene Brock

Shirlene Brock, of 200 Bute St., Suffolk, Va., passed away on Oct. 9, 2009 in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. A Suffolk native, she was born on May 23, 1958 to the late Richard Oliver Brock Jr. and Mary Ann Brock. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Oliver Brock Jr., and her brother, Richard Oliver Brock III. During her early years, she became a member of St. Mark A.M.E. Zion Church, where she was a member of the gospel choir and a member of Class No. 4. Shirlene attended Suffolk High School. She was a former employee of Nansemond Pointe Nursing Home, Autumn Care Nursing Home and AmeriCare Plus.
Shirlene leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters, Rhonda Brock, Tarina Brock and Niketa Brock. She also leaves to mourn her, six grandchildren, Andrea Porter, Jermaine Woodard, Nekorey Woodard, Daquan Brock, T’Asia Copeland, and Alexis Copeland. She is survived by her mother, Mary Ann Brock; two sisters, Joyce A. Brock and Mary C. Brock; her three brothers, Roy L. Brock, Alphonso E. Brock and James H. Brock; devoted friends Nathaniel Collins, Norris Manley and Beatrice Brown; best friend Cathy Baker; devoted cousin Rita Hunter; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, all of Suffolk, Va.
Her remains will be placed at Faith Temple Apostolic Church, 476 Wellons St., Suffolk, Va., on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 11 a.m.
A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009 at Faith Temple. The Rev. Wilmers Williams will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be held at the Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends and visitors at 473 Wellons St., Suffolk, Va.
