Eddie Woodley Jr.

Mr. Eddie “Jazz” Woodley Jr., 140 Pembroke Lane, Suffolk (Chuckatuck), formerly of Saratoga, departed this earthly life on Oct. 19, 2009. Eddie was predeceased by his parents, Eddie and Margaret Bradley Woodley, and a sister, Pecolia Woodley.
He was a graduate of East Suffolk High School and a graduate of Virginia State College.
He was the owner of Woodley Enterprises, a member of the Silver Queen 1495 Grand United Order of Odd Fellows Lodge and a faithful community activist. Eddie was a faithful member of Antioch United Church of Christ, where he served as the Sunday school superintendent, a member of the usher board and a trustee of the church.
Eddie leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Clara Woodley; two daughters, Sherona Woodley and Tatia Woodley (Bernard); three sons, Darius Woodley (Kartisa), Eddie Woodley (Paula), and Randolph Brown, all of Suffolk; three sisters, Susie Woodley, Sterling Woodley and Lydia Woodley; two brothers, Edwin Woodley (Susie), of Portsmouth, and Eric Woodley (Nancy), of Suffolk; 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives.
A funeral of triumph will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24, 209 at noon at the Antioch UCC Church, Kilby and Hull avenues (Saratoga), with the Rev. Jarvis Jones officiating. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Harris Funeral Home has been entrusted with the home going service.
