A former Suffolk daycare worker at First Baptist Christian Daycare pleaded guilty Thursday to three charges of assault and battery for slapping, smacking and sitting on an 18-month-old child in October.

In a plea agreement, Ila Arlene Howell, who was 22 at the time of the incident, pleaded guilty to all three charges. In exchange for her plea, she must complete an anger management course and 50 hours of community service.

The incidents took place in October against one child, according to police. The daycare center terminated Howell when the allegations came to light.

Howell is due back in court in 2012. If she has good behavior in the interim, the charges will be dismissed.
