Mary Elizabeth Watson Jones was called home on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009.
Mary Elizabeth Watson Jones was born in Whaleyville, Suffolk, Va., to Daniel Coleman and Margaret Isadora Baysmore Watson on Aug. 14, 1941.
Mary left Whaleyville, Suffolk, Va., in the early 60’s in pursuit of a better opportunity for employment in the Washington, D.C. area.
She was the wife of the late Herbert R. Jones. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Angelique Isadora Watson; brothers LeRoy and Robert Watson; and brothers-in-law Alfonso Battle, Eddie Barber and James Parker.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Kelvin J. Watson (Jynette T. Watson), of Plant City, Fla.; one daughter, Melissa A. White (Kevin T. White), of Waldorf, Md.; grandchildren, Ramsey J. White, Krystian Jerome Watson; stepsons Kevin T. White Jr., Derrek C. White; sisters, Frances Parker, of Hampton, Va.; Virginia Battle, of Suffolk, Va.; Clara Barber, of Washington, D.C.; brothers, Paul Watson, of Washington, D.C., and Harrison Watson (Bessie), of Whaleyville; sisters-in-law, Adelle Watson, of Portsmouth, Va., and Alice Watson, of Washington, D.C.
A wake will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Nov. 21, with a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m., at Rehoboth Baptist Church, 621 Alabama Ave. SE, Washington, DC 20032. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, Md.
