Ruby Hill

Ruby Mae Hill, 76, the daughter of the late Columbus and Estelle Wilson Eley, passed from this life Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009 at Riverside Regional Medical Center.
Ruby was the church mother and trustee of Greater New Hope COGIC Chuckatuck. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Delores Thomas, and a son, Jonathon Jefferson.
Ruby was loved by many, but will be greatly missed by her husband, Willie L. Hill.
Along with her husband, she leaves to cherish her memory seven children, Mary Jefferson, of Suffolk, Va., Ruby Goodman (Paul), of Junction City, Kan., Frederick Jefferson (Reba), of Newark, N.J., Valerie Perry (Melvin), of Wakefield, Va., Carlos Jefferson, of Suffolk, Va., Sukina Jefferson, of Junction City, Kan., Wayne Jefferson, of Rosharon, Texas; three sisters, Eliza Elder (Daniel), of Virginia Beach, Va., Carol Towns (Rufus), of Suffolk, Va., Brenda Brown, of Newport News, Va.; four brothers, Clayton Eley (Ruby), of Hampton, Va., Authur Eley (Mary), of Henderson, N.C., Clarence Eley (Mary), of Brooklyn, N.Y., Robert Eley, of Suffolk, Va.; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A service of celebration will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2009 at Mt. Lebanon COGIC by Elder Eugene K. Austin and Elder Larry Gray. Viewing will be held Sunday, Nov. 29 from 1 to 4 p.m. with a wake service held from 3 to 4 p.m. at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Interment will be held in Nansemond Suffolk Cemetery.
