David Sawyer

SUFFOLK — David L. Sawyer, 78, of 550 Third Ave., Suffolk, passed away Dec. 14, 2009 at Nansemond Pointe Rehab & Health Care Center. A native of Nansemond County, he was son of the late Lynwood and Cfroney Milteer Sawyer, and the widower of Gladys Sawyer.
Mr. Sawyer was a retired self-employed painter. He was a member of Mt. Ararat Christian Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory: one son, Windal Sawyer (Katie), of Suffolk; six sisters, Florine Skeeter (Clifton) and Evelena Britt, of Suffolk, Laura White, of Ossing, N.Y., Janett Hopson (William), Mary Lee Twine, and Gearldine Fulgham (James), all of Suffolk; two brothers, Horace Sawyer and James E. Sawyer, both of Suffolk; three grandchildren and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at noon Friday, Dec. 18, 2009 at Crocker Funeral Home, officiated by Bishop Dwight Whitfield. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
