Thomas Lee Boykins, Jr., 70 of 1201 Gray Court, Suffolk died Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was a native of Courtland, VA and the son of the late Thomas L. Boykins, Sr. and Alice Boykins.
He retired as a Trackman Engineer with the CSX Transportation Railroad after 33 years of service. He was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and member of the Senior Usher Board, Men’s of Action Empower and Noon Day Prayer ministry.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Boykins; two daughters, Annette Hale (Dennis) and Katina Sharpe (Breon) both of Suffolk; three sons, Ronald M. Boykins (Alicia) of Portsmouth, VA, Lloyd Boykins (Hope) and Thomas (Lynn) Boykins III (Tarry) both of Suffolk; four sisters, Catherine Freeman of Virginia Beach, VA, Rosa Turner and Luvenia Boykins both of Courtland, VA, Alice Boykins of Norfolk, VA; two brothers, James Boykins of Courtland, VA and Johnnie Boykins (Jane) of Chesapeake, VA; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be noon Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Metropolitan Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Robert L. Hobbs. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will be at the residence and will assemble there on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. for the procession to the church. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
