Milton Lassiter

Mr. Milton Henry Lassiter, 71, of 219 Prospect Road, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at the Veteran Hospital in Hampton, Va. He was a native of Suffolk, and the son of late Lula Berry and Henry Lassiter. He was preceded in death by his son, Shawn Porter, and his brother, William Chambliss.
Mr. Lassiter was a U.S. Army veteran, retired brick mason, and a lifelong entrepreneur.
He is survived by six daughters, Teresinia Lassiter, of Fairfax; Rev. Chantele Bellinger (Bruce), of Newport News; Violet Beverly (Warren), of New York; Marlita Jordan (Donnell); Carol Boone; and Nicole Porter, of Suffolk; and six sons, Milton Eric Lassiter (Wardenia), of Chesapeake; Henry Lassiter (Delores), of New York; Kenneth Lassiter, of Alexandria; Jeffery Lassiter, of Alexandria; Troy Boone, of Charlottesville; Christian Scotsanini “Scottii,” of Suffolk; 21 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held at noon Monday, March 8, 2010 at East End Baptist Church, 523 East Washington St., Suffolk, officiated by Dr. Mark A. Croston. Interment will be in the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Harris Funeral Home, Inc. is handling arrangements. The family will receive visitation on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Magnolia Gardens, 219 Prospect Road, Suffolk, between 6-9 p.m.
