William Davis

Mr. William “Bud” Davis, Jr of 918 Douglas Court departed this earthly life on April 1. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church and served as a deacon, on many boards and in many organizations in the church. He was a former employee of the A&P Grocery Store and a retiree of the Virginia ABC Store. Bud was a graduate of the Booker T. Washington High School. He was known by many for his beautiful singing voice and his pleasant and kind ways. He was a member of the former Suffolk Community Male Chorus, The Mass Choir and F.B. Male Chorus and a current member of the Second Chance Gospel Choir.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife Julia E. Davis, one daughter Sharon Denise White (Clarence) of Delaware; his mother, Georgia Mae Davis of Chesapeake; four sisters, Betty Davis (Joe) of Brooklyn, N.Y., Annis Thompson of Norfolk, and Cynthia Barrett and Earlene Davis-Lee both of Chesapeake; two brothers, Fletcher Davis (Vernell) of Suffolk and Terry Davis (Cidra) of Chesapeake; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral of triumph will be held on April 8 at 1 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with Dr. Steven Blunt officiating. Burial will be in the Albert G. Horton Veteran’s Cemetery. A wake of remembrance will be held on April 6 at 7 p.m. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
