Hattie Carter Walter, 47, of Carrsville Highway, Franklin, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002.

Born on Feb. 17, 1955, in North Charleston, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Jerry R. and Verna Erwin Carter.

Mrs. Walter was the owner and operator of a cleaning service. She was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and The American Paint Horse Association.

Survivors include her husband, Darrell Neal Walter; sons, Jason Aric Walter of Atlanta, Ga., Michael Sean Walter of Portsmouth, and Patrick Curtis Walter of Suffolk; and her aunt, Pat Irwin of Waldorf, Md.

The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home by the Rev. Dr. Keith Curran, with burial in Nansemond Suffolk Cemetery.

The family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
