Rose M. Alexander

Rose M. Alexander, 55, of the 100 block of Tyler Avenue, Newport News, died Sunday, June 23, 2002, in Riverside Hospital.

Mrs. Alexander was a native of Yonkers, N.Y. She was a daughter of the late Edward and Irene Motley. She was predeceased by her husband, Billie Alexander.

Survivors include three daughters, Billie Alexander of Newport News, Denise Evans of Chesapeake, and Valerie Alexander of Sharon Hills, Pa.; four sons, Edward Alexander, Billy Alexander and Victor Smith, all of Yonkers, and Henry Artis of Suffolk; many sisters and brothers; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at noon Saturday in Nicholson and Cummings Funeral Chapel, Hampton, with the Rev. Thomas Harding Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.

Viewing will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday in Nicholson and Cummings Funeral Home, 4304 Victoria Blvd., Hampton.

The body will be taken by 10:30 a.m. Saturday to the chapel. Family and friends will assemble at 11 a.m. Saturday at the residence for the procession.

Wyatt and Sons Funeral Home, Inc., Suffolk, is in charge of arrangements.

Alfreda Everett

Alfreda Everett, 91, of 2526 W. Lanvale St., Baltimore, Md., died Saturday, June 22, 2002.

The funeral will be held at noon Saturday, June 29 in T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home, Suffolk. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery, Suffolk.

T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Catherine Walker

Mrs. Catherine Walker, 86, of 6064 Churchland Blvd., Portsmouth, died Monday, June 24, 2002 in Maryview Hospital.

A native of Nansemond County, she was the daughter of the late Moses and Cora Jones White, and the widow of William Walker.

She had retired from Emerson Radio and Television, and was a member of Grove Baptist Church, Portsmouth.

She is survived by three sons, Leon White of Florida, William Walker of Queens, N.Y., and Lossie Walker of Manhattan, N.Y.; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held at noon Friday in Grove Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by Dr. Melvin O. Marriner.

Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery, Suffolk.
