Because a Suffolk teen and her family cannot afford needed treatment for the girl’s injuries in an Easter Sunday accident, family and friends have rallied around her.

Stacey Williams, 14, was critically injured in an automobile crash on March 31 in an accident that took the life of the other passenger. The ninth-grader at Lakeland High School sustained numerous injuries that will take years to correct.

Her parents are self-employed, and at the time of the accident the family did not have medical insurance. Williams is in dire need of corrective surgeries to reconstruct her internally. She can receive the medical attention she needs, including one operation only, available at a hospital in Minnesota, but at this time she cannot get there.

The Happy Horse Bar and Grill will stage an outdoor Benefit Barbecue and Music Festival at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 28. The program will feature a new up-and-coming band, Longshot, with all proceeds going toward medical expenses for Williams.

Longshot has familiar faces to most of the Suffolk and Hampton Roads music fans: Bill Crawley, Chris Ballard, Rusty Holland, and Robert Boyd. They are joined by vocalists Joleen N. Miller and Jeannie Hall.

Tickets for $10 which include all that you can eat and drink, may be purchased at the door.
