Ministers’ wives, widows, also present scholarship

The Suffolk Association of Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows presented a scholarship in the amount of $500 recently to Naomi Malette, a 2002 graduate of Nansemond River High School.
This is the first scholarship ever to be presented to a student.
The Addie Word Scholarship Fund
is named in honor of its founder, Addie M. Word.
She is the wife of Dr. C.J. Word, pastor emeritus of East End Baptist Church.
The criteria to receive this scholarship are that the student must be active in his or her church and maintain a 3.0 grade point average.
Malette is the daughter of Leroy and Joyce Malette of Suffolk, and is a member of New Mt. Zion Holiness Church.
She will enter Virginia State University in the fall where she plans to major in political science.
