Police investigate shooting

Suffolk police are investigating a shooting that took place in a downtown neighborhood Monday.
Dispatchers received several calls around 3:54 p.m. about the shooting, which occurred in the 400 block of Wilson Street, according to a city press release.
A male victim was treated at the scene and then transported to Sentara Obici Hospital. He then was flown via Nightingale to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he underwent surgery.
His condition was not available at press time.
Police initially interviewed a subject picked up nearby on North Wellons Street, but he was found not to be connected to the shooting, according to a press release from the city.
