Byrd and Tuck may announce choice
RICHMOND – Virginia’s top political puzzler – who’ll get the votes of Sen. Harry F. Byrd and ex-Gov. William Tuck – may be answered by the end of the week.
The two Democratic leaders, who’ve kept a stony silence on the presidential race indicated last night that they would make their decisions known shortly.
Property funds okayed by council
City Council continued an adjourned meeting of October 9 and heard and passed unanimously a second reading of two resolutions allocating funds to the buying of property.
A resolution calling for the sum of $25,000 was the bigger of the two property purchases. The money has been set aside to purchase the Gibson property recently bought by Dr. Beverly Holladay at the corner of West Washington and South Streets.
Miss Graham Harrell named head of King’s Fork Club
Mrs. Graham Harrell has been selected as the new president of the King’s Fork Home Demonstration Club. This election was made at an all day meeting held at the Western Branch Baptist Church.
Other new officers named are: Mrs. R. H. Archer, treasurer; Mrs. Norman Bosselman, reporter; and Mrs. E.C. Carr.
Mrs. Don Pinner Bible Teacher
Mrs. Don Pinner taught the Bible study on the topic &uot;Do You Understand Your New Freedom In Christ?&uot; at a meeting of Circle No. 1 of the Suffolk Presbyterian Church held last night at the home of Mrs. Robert Morris on Linden Avenue. Mrs. John Hethorn presented an interesting program.
Raiders eye Churchland after 49-13 Triumph over Kempsville
Suffolk High’s red raiders handled a doughty little band of Kempsville gridders pretty well as expected here last night, but apparently will be in for a stiffer chore when they entertain the unbeaten Churchland Truckers.
