Briggs celebrate their golden anniversary

Herbert and Jo Ann Briggs celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family on Nov. 1.
Mr. Briggs, a native of Suffolk, is a commercial artist.
He worked in the creative services department of The Virginian-Pilot/Ledger-Star for over 30 years.
Mrs. Briggs, an elementary school teacher and homemaker, is the former Jo Ann Canada of Waynesboro.
The couple was married in the First Baptist Church of Waynesboro on Nov. 1, 1952.
Mr. and Mrs. Briggs have two daughters, Sharon Fanny and Susan Johnson, both of Suffolk; a son-in-law, J.C. Fanny; and four grandchildren.
All were present at the afternoon tea given in the couple’s honor.
Also in attendance were the couple’s brothers and sisters and an aunt.
Mr. and Mrs. Briggs are members of Suffolk Christian Church.
