Bennett’s Creek to get Pizza Hut

North Suffolk is getting another fast-food restaurant with a Pizza Hut soon to open at Bennett’s Creek Crossing.
The restaurant will be a WingStreet Pizza Hut, company Area General Manager Nat Kemp said. These newer restaurants offer wings, unlike older Pizza Huts.
“Most of the new ones today are WingStreet stores,” he said.
Contractors Friday were busy fitting out the interior of the storefront and expect to be done in about 10 days.
“We are looking to open on May 25,” Kemp said, adding that a date is yet to be finalized for the grand-opening event.
But he said the grand opening would include plenty of giveaways. “We want to make sure all the public know about it,” he said.
Kemp said the restaurant is being developed by the world’s largest pizza franchise, National Pizza Company.
According to its website, the company, which was sold to Merrill-Lynch Global Private Equity Group in 2006, operates 1,192 stores in 28 states.
Jobs at the new restaurant are still available, including delivery drivers and order-takers, according to Kemp.
“Our employees go through some extensive training for all of the positions,” he said.
“(Before opening) we will be setting up the restaurant to make sure the equipment is ready, making sure that we have the proper permits and that things that need to be posted are posted.”
The decision was made to bring Pizza Hut to Bennett’s Creek following high demand at the Harbour View restaurant, according to Kemp.
“We didn’t have any Pizza Hut that services that area — Harbour View was growing tremendously and we were unable to service that area.”
Although there are some other vacant storefronts at Bennett’s Creek Crossing, another new business appears to be going in, with new signage above one vacant unit reading “Nursing Education and Study Center.”
A real estate agent around the corner from the unit wasn’t aware Friday who is behind the project, but a light had been left on in the unit’s rear and a fit-out appeared to be in the early stages.
