You are invited to join the Suffolk-Nansemond Historical Society on Wednesday, Nov. 13 to visit preservation projects in three North Carolina counties and to enjoy some beautiful autumn scenery.

The bus will leave the Main Street Station at 9 a.m. and return at about 5 p.m. The trip will offer a variety of interesting stops not normally on the tourist’s path but worth seeing.

Hope Plantation near Windsor in Bertie County, was the home of North Carolina governor David Stone. This house, one of the stops on the trip, was restored several years ago as a house museum and is beautifully furnished with period furniture. Two other non-restored plantation houses – Buckland and Pitch Landing, will be among the sites visited.

The price of the trip is $40 for SNHS members and $50 for non-members. This price includes transportation, tours and lunch.
