To the editor:

I felt it was important to spread the word about the true dedication that parents and faculty have to educating the children at Creekside Elementary in northern Suffolk.

Times are truly tough for all of us dealing with a slumped economy. The budget fight with City Council on behalf of the school system just to keep our teachers in place was upsetting to many.

But in the face of all that, the PTA at Creekside Elementary has been doing some extraordinary things for the children at its school.

Students have been exposed to cultural influences ranging from the Virginia Symphony to Miss USA, who will be the guest speaker at the PTA meeting May 8, 2012, at 7 p.m.

The PTA has been doing wonderful things — and has plans for more — for the children at Creekside Elementary.

Even I am excited to see Miss USA!
