Taylor Edens got his fifth win of the season Tuesday as he helped his Nansemond-Suffolk Academy Saints (10-7) rout visting Hampton Roads Academy by a score of 6-0.
Edens dominated the mound for the Saints giving up just one hit in his shutout effort.
In a game that was stopped after five innings due to inclement weather, NSA scored runs early so that the outcome of the game was never in question.
Anthony Waldner and Jacob Laine scored two of the Saints’ three first-inning runs.
Waldner had his usual big day in the batter’s box, going 3 for 3 with two runs. Laine went 2 for 2 at the plate and also scored two runs.
After Waldner tacked on one more run in the fifth inning to put the Saints up 6-0, the game was put on 30-minute delay before it was ultimately called off completely.
NSA closes the season on the road. On Thursday, the Saints take on Norfolk Christian. On Friday, they travel Richmond to face St. Christopher’s.
