SUFFOLK — Rachel Daughtrey Johnson, 79, passed away April 25, 2012, at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Nansemond County and was the daughter of the late Clarence T. and Elsie Piland Daughtrey. She was a graduate of Holland High School, a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church for 61 years and a licensed insurance agent for 25 years.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 61 years, Walter Harrell Johnson, and her three sons, Raymond Harrell Johnson and wife, Nancy, of Richmond, Thomas Wayne Johnson, of Stafford, and Edward Allen Johnson and wife, Carol, of Suffolk; six grandchildren, Melanie Johnson, Mary Frances Johnson, Rebecca Johnson Mundy and her husband, Joe, Catherine Johnson, Adam Thomas Johnson and Chelsea Johnson; and one great-grandchild, Adam Thomas Johnson Jr.

The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2012, at Beaver Dam Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Richard L. Peerey and the Rev. Warren L. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
