TGIF moves north

The city’s popular concert series is taking a journey up north for the rest of the summer.
The TGIF concerts will be held at Bennett’s Creek Park every Friday through Sept. 3. The concerts will follow the same schedule as those held at Constant’s Wharf. The park opens to the public at 5:30 p.m., with the band starting at 6 p.m. The band will usually play two sets, with a 30-minute break in between. Concessions will be available.
Lori Carter with Suffolk Parks and Recreation said the concerts move halfway through the summer to Bennett’s Creek Park to expose the public to more of the city’s parks.
“It’s an opportunity to introduce the public to Bennett’s Creek, for those who don’t know about it,” Carter said. “It’s a beautiful park. We wanted people to know the variety of parks we have to offer.”
The band FAB will perform for the first Bennett’s Creek show tonight. The remainder of the lineup includes Cedar Creek on Aug. 13, The Janitors on Aug. 20 and The Overtime Band on Aug. 27. Island Boy will round out the 2010 series on Sept. 3.
