Mary Virginia Byrd Grant, 84, a native of Parksley, died on Thursday, March 20, 2003, in Sunnybrook Assisted Living in Hendersonville, N.C.

She was predeceased by a brother, Aaron S. Byrd Jr.

She was the widow of the late Wilson Selby Grant and the daughter of the late Aaron S. Byrd and Mabelle Moore Byrd.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church, Suffolk, and attended St. James Episcopal Church in Accomac.

She is survived by her children, John B. &uot;Jack&uot; Grant and wife Lauren of Asheville, N.C. and Richard S. Grant of Suffolk; three grandchildren, Thomas Grant and wife, June; Jon Grant and wife, Cynthia and Elizabeth Grant and three great grandchildren..

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 28 at Edgehill Cemetery in Accomac, with the Rev. Alan B. Hooker conducting the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Parksley Volunteer Fire Dept., P.O. Box 14, Parksley, Va. 23421.
