Peanuts processed in Suffolk recalled

Planters peanuts manufactured in Suffolk are being voluntarily recalled by Kraft Foods because of a possibility the product was exposed to water not intended for consumption.
The Planters Cocktail Peanuts sold in 12-ounce canisters have a code date of Jan. 9, 2014 and a UPC number of 2900007212. The date is located on the bottom of the canister.
Although no illnesses or complaints have been reported, the peanuts may have been exposed to water not intended for use in food during the production process at the Planters plant in Suffolk.
“Kraft Foods is issuing this voluntary recall out of an abundance of caution,” according to a statement on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s website.
If you purchased the recalled 12-ounce canister of Planters peanuts, then you should not eat them, and return the product to the store where you purchased them for an exchange or refund.
Approximately 3,000 cases of the recalled product were shipped to retail customers across the United States and Puerto Rico.
