Editor, the News-Herald:
Every year when college basketball season ends, I have a sense of loss and sadness.
Seems like a friend has gone away…
Thank goodness the season isn’t completely over!
Suffolk Sheriff Isaacs is hosting his tournament again this year.
This is the 5th invitational tournament.
If you have never been, you are in for a real treat…and the admission is free!
Sheriff Isaacs uses the money from the team registrations to put on the Senior Forum each year.
This event brings together service providers for seniors from the city, health care and legal industries, etc.
You will be participating in helping out our seniors.
The tournament offers some really outstanding players.
You can see semi-pro players Derrick Bryant and Howard Fry, as well as Norfolk State alumni.
These players come to play, and they play hard.
You can even get on the court yourself.
Mike Duman Auto Sales is sponsoring half-time activities with prizes.
You can try out your own shots – free throw, lay up, or 3-point.
The tournament will be at King’s Fork Middle School gym at 6:30 pm on Wednesday-Friday, April 30-May 2.
Play will begin on Saturday, May 3 at 10:00 am.
Put your family in the car – go to some or all of the games.
We need to support this outstanding local sporting event.
Don’t complain that we have nothing to do in Suffolk…you have a chance to enjoy some great basketball right here…for no admission charge!
