Amy B. Brown

Amy Bell Brown, daughter of the late Tipney Jordan and Amy Walker Jordan, was born on May 3, 1926. The Lord called her home Sunday, June 15, 2003, at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg. Her spouse, Serge Brown Sr.; brother, Herbert Jordan, and son, Marvin L. Brown, predeceased her.
She was educated in the Virginia School System and had retired from Planters (Kraft) Peanut Division of Standard Brand Co.
Amy was a member of Healing Temple Church in Suffolk. She was a member of the Deaconess Board, Usher Senior Board, church choir, first organizer of Church Family & Friends Day, and planner and organizer of the Children’s Day.
She is survived by two sons, Serge Brown Jr. (Michelle) and Adrian David Brown (Linda); five brothers, Tipsy Jordan Jr. (Marie), Claud Jordan (Marion), David Jordan (Ruby), Gerald Jordan (Desire), and Joseph Jordan (Peggy); six sisters, Beatrice Hudson, Dolly Wright, Mary Spears, Mollie Jordan, Lealer Manley (Horace), and Sylvia Battle (Thurman); two brothers-in-law, Anthony and Carey Liggins; four grandchildren, Dion, Yashica, Serge III, and Aliyah; three great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 20, at Healing Chapel Baptist Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Viewing will be held from noon-7 p.m. on Thursday, June 19 in T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home.
