Staff report
Tiffany Buckley, 14, a rising sophomore at NSA, has been chosen from hundreds of applications to attend the United States Olympic Committee’s outreach program F.L.A.M.E (Finding Leaders Among Minorities Everywhere).
Students are nominated within their community by participating organizations and Brandi Anderson, through the Suffolk YMCA, nominated Tiffany. She has been awarded full travel and room and board to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Spring where she will participate in leadership development. A heavy emphasis on the Olympic ideals of persistence, vision, focus, discipline and commitment will be featured during the week as well as the interaction with current Olympic athletes.
Outside of school Tiffany participated in Relay for Life fund-raising for cancer research. She is a member of Calvary Evangelical Baptist Church where she volunteers with the Praise Dancers and the nursing home outreach ministry.
Tiffany is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Ronald Buckley of Suffolk.
