Staff report
Trindco, a manufacturer of countertop surfacing materials, on Wednesday broke ground for its new $1.5 million, 25,000-square-foot office and manufacturing headquarters.
The future facility, which will be located on 4.3 acres in Suffolk Industrial Park, will allow the company to expand its inventory of granite and marble slabs from overseas suppliers. The new facility will include more than $1 million in high-tech computerized fabrication equipment.
The new plant will also create new job openings within the company in both the manufacturing and administrative areas, said Kenneth G. Trinder II, company president.
Trindco has sales and installation offices in Richmond, Roanoke and Raleigh.
A new location will be opening soon in Charlottesville.
