The annual C. Faye Tillery Community Cancer Awareness Day will commemorate the life of a late, beloved employee of Suffolk Parks & Recreation and native of Suffolk on April 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event will be held at the East Suffolk Recreation Center, located at 138 South Sixth Street.
C. “Faye” Tillery was a true parks and recreation professional dedicated to the youth and seniors of Suffolk. This event is a celebration of her commitment to the community and will bring awareness to the disease that ended her life at such an early age.
Activities will include youth and adult basketball games, contests, raffles, and free food. Information will also be provided on cancer prevention and detection.
A special dedication ceremony will be held with the family at 10 a.m. Admission is $1, with proceeds donated to the Suffolk Rockin’ Relay, an event sponsored by the American Cancer Society.
